NUSPAN's threefold mission is to:
1) Foster interdisciplinary dialogue among students about current energy and environmental science and policy issues,
2) Promote the pursuit of scientific and environmental responsibility,
3) Heighten science policy awareness in the Northwestern and Chicagoland community.
To accomplish its objectives, NU-SPAN relies upon the involvement of students in a variety of academic fields, including science, law, business and the humanities. By encouraging discussion among students with diverse interests and skills, our group seeks to formulate creative and effective ways to influence science policy and educate the broader community. In addition, we aim to inform our members of current issues and opportunities in science policy through inviting professionals in policy-related fields to share their experiences.
